This outdoor water exploration activity encourages children to create temporary artwork and observe how sunlight, heat, and time affect their designs. Through prediction, observation, and experimentation, children build scientific thinking, creativity, and an understanding of change over time.
Instructions
Invite children to create pictures, patterns, letters, or designs using water.
Observe how the artwork looks immediately after it is created.
Make predictions about what will happen as the sun shines on the surface.
Revisit the artwork over time and notice changes.
Compare areas in the sun and shade.
Create new designs and continue investigating how water changes throughout the day.

Infant & Toddler Adaptations
